In Space, No-One Can Hear You Laugh
Comedy and Science Fiction
Dr Who spin-off writer Eddie Robson escapes from the Tardis to entertain us with his unique approach to comedy, script writing and science fiction. His sitcom pilot, The Resistance, will be broadcast on BBC Radio 2 in July 2012. His other credits include episodes of Radio 4 Extra's Doctor Who series, material for That Mitchell And Webb Sound, books on the Coen brothers and film noir and an illustrated adaptation of Dracula. His first play, Public Image, was performed at The Dukes, Lancaster in October 2011.

ARCHIVING THE FUTURE
Why do we need Science Fiction?
The University of Liverpool holds an internationally important archive of science fiction publications and manuscripts. Find out more about this unique treasure trove with the help of Andy Sawyer, who is librarian of the University’s Science Fiction Foundation Collection.
As well as looking after the archive, Andy is also a respected critic and reviewer. He has published numerous essays on science fiction and fantasy, and in 2008 was awarded the Science
Fiction Research Association’s Clareson Award for services to science fiction. Last year he was guest curator of the British Library summer exhibition Out of This World: Science Fiction But Not As You Know It. His “Foundation Favourites” column from the Science Fiction Foundation Collection has been a must-read regular in the British Science Fiction Association’s Vector since 2003.

Tricia Sullivan
Enjoy an evening of readings and conversation with award-winning science fiction author, Tricia Sullivan. Since 1995 she has been publishing critically-acclaimed science fiction novels, including Arthur C Clarke Award-winning Dreaming in Smoke. Her most recent book is Lightborn. Tricia, who is an expatriate American based in Shropshire, has a background in music and martial arts and holds an MA in Education from Columbia University.
