For future reference and to avoid future repetition, I am summarising here all of the topics covered in 2011.
January | {unofficial club meeting on 15th) Ramsey Campbell Lecture on H P Lovecraft |
February | First Contact |
March | Post-Apocalypse |
April | Psi Powers |
May | The Works of Ray Bradbury |
June | Children In SF & Fantasy |
July | Adaptations |
August | The Works of J G Ballard |
September | Dystopias |
October | The Works of John Wyndham |
November | Colonisation |
December | Unmissables |
I won't be able to make the November 5th meeting. I thought I was going to have a quiet birthday but family have decided otherwise. I had read Alistair Reynold's Revelation Space for the Colonisation topic. Frankly although he is strong on original ideas his characterisation, writing style and plotting are weak compared to Mieville, Banks, Jon C Grimwood and many more.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the meeting and when you see fireworks it is the world celebrating my birthday... maybe.
