The next meeting of the Chester Science Fiction & Fantasy group takes place this afternoon, 14:00 - 15:30.
The theme, "Adaptations," covers how people have attempted, and often failed, to create visual adaptations of various books for media other than the written word.
Consider that, before the invention of motion pictures, we would only really have one form of adaptation: from the written word to the stage.
And the closest we have for that idea ... was the adaptation of one of the Arabian Nights stories, Aladdin, as the very first pantomime.
Oh, no. They didn't.
